Actress Elizabeth Taylor settles $20 million lawsuit against National Enquirer
ELIZABETH TAYLOR has settled her $20 million lawsuit against The National Enquirer, winning an apology and money for articles that said she had a fatal disease, lupus, and was drinking while in the hospital. Miss Taylor nearly died during a hospital stay last year.
The lawsuit she brought in Los Angeles Superior Court cited specific articles published last year. "The Enquirer gained access to all of Miss Taylor's medical records and is now satisfied that the articles reporting on her medical condition and the report that she was drinking were in error," Miss Taylor's publicist, CHEN SAM, said in a statement yesterday announcing the settlement, which was reached late last week.
